Staff Joseph T. Verga, PhD, HSP-P Dr. Joe Verga is Executive Director of Associates in Christian Counseling. He has been a practicing psychologist in Winston-Salem since 1981. Prior to becoming ACC’s founding director in the fall of 1991, Dr. Verga worked with Salem Psychiatric Associates, in addition to serving as Director of Pastoral Services at a local private psychiatric hospital. Dr. Verga received his PhD and clinical training from Fuller Graduate School of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary. He also holds an MA in Theology from Fuller as well as an MA in Psychology from New School for Social Research. He is a charter member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and is also certified by the International Board of Christian Counselors. In addition to his duties as Executive Director, Dr. Verga also does consulting within the community and works with adult clients on a variety of issues. Dr. Verga believes that, “faith in Christ is central to health and wholeness.” He feels called as a therapist to pass on the grace and mercy he has himself received. God whispers to
