I Serve - Whitney Jones
My
first experience with ACC dates back over ten years. I served in
a consulting role to help develop an annual fundraising program.
That first fundraising dinner drew twenty-five couples. It’s
amazing to see the annual banquet now attract over six hundred people!
It’s just one example of how God has blessed the ministry
of Associates in Christian Counseling.
I have served on the board for more than five years now. I am touched
by the number of people I know whose lives have been transformed
by receiving counseling from ACC. I am aware of marriages restored,
anxiety and depression relieved, and issues with children resolved,
all thanks to the grace of God and the skill of the counselors at
ACC.
Henri Nouwen reminds us that we meet God in our poverty, and in
the poverty of others. When Jesus said, “Blessed are the poor
in spirit,” he was encouraging us to be open to those who
are vulnerable, for He dwells in their vulnerability.
There is no calling greater than that of the counselors at ACC.
They are daily meeting with people who are vulnerable, and they
are daily sharing Christ’s love with those in need of receiving
it. It is wonderfully fulfilling to me to be a member of the board
of such a ministry and to support it in any way that I can.
