I Serve - Scott Reed
Scott
Reed has served on the Board of Directors of Associates in Christian
Counseling since 1997. Last month he retired from BB&T after
30 years of service, 20 of those as CFO. Read why Mr. Reed chooses
to serve this ministry.
“As Christians, my wife and I choose to invest our time and
talents in organizations which reflect our core beliefs,”
Reed stated. “I first learned about Associates in Christian
Counseling in our Bible Fellowship class shortly after moving to
Winston-Salem.” As a Wake Forest alumnus, Scott went about
reconnecting with classmates, one of whom served on ACC’s
Board. As they say, the rest is history.
The Reeds have often invested themselves in youth ministries—Young
Life, church youth groups, etc. Part of what drew Scott to serve
on the Board, is ACC’s ministry with families. “Christ
ministered one-on-one with individuals, but those individuals were
part of families whose lives were healed and restored by His touch.
At ACC, the clinicians bring their training and commitment to healing
lives, one individual and one family at a time.”
Reed has brought wisdom and encouragement to ACC with his financial
background. “As a young ministry, there were struggles,”
he said. “It was my pleasure to be able to include BB&T
as a corporate sponsor for many events, especially our annual banquets.”
One of Scott’s many contributions has been creating a snow
plan for these events. We’re happy to report, we’ve
never had snow!
“Associates in Christian Counseling is a unique ministry
in our community. I have great respect for the commitment of the
staff. I have great admiration for the demeanor, sensitivity, and
faithfulness of the director, Dr. Joe Verga. And finally, I consider
it a privilege to serve on the Board with such dedicated men and
women who volunteer their time and talents to support ACC.”
Now that Scott Reed has retired from banking, he is planning
to invest himself in time with his wife and family, growing in his
faith, and serving through his local church and overseas missions.
