I Serve - Scott Gerding
Scott Gerding joined the Board of Directors of Associates in Christian
Counseling in the spring of 2006.
“Before I had ever heard of Associates in Christian Counseling,
I met Joe Verga at New Canaan Society, a men’s fellowship
we both attend. I heard him share his testimony one morning and
we began to strike up a friendship. He was my introduction to ACC,”
said Scott.
Gerding went on to share that he was at a point in his life where
he was looking for a place within our community to serve. “I
was interested in a non-profit where I could make a contribution.
The more I learned about Associates in Christian Counseling, the
more intrigued I became. Having an undergraduate degree in psychology
gave me an interest in their work. An important aspect that furthered
my interest was that it was a Christian organization. I was also
impressed by the men and women who serve on the Board, some of whom
I have known for years. After discussions with Bob Mills and Joe
Verga I asked if I might be of help.”
As his involvement has grown, Scott has come to greatly appreciate
what a wonderful opportunity Associates in Christian Counseling
provides for those who need help. The twofold benefits of a professionally
trained staff and the privacy of not being on a church campus, should
encourage anyone who is struggling.
“One of my goals as a member of the Board, is greater name
recognition for Associates in Christian Counseling,” stated
Scott. “As I share information about them with folks, the
comment I hear most frequently is, ‘I wish I’d known
about them when….’ A ministry with nearly a 16-year
history of serving our community and changing lives, should not
still be ‘the best kept secret in town!’
