Why I Serve - Suzanne W. Cooke

Several years ago, a friend invited me to attend Associates in Christian Counseling’s annual banquet. She was sponsoring a table and inviting a group from church to join her for an evening of fun and fellowship. I had never heard of this ministry before and was very impressed to learn that evening about this unique and valuable community resource. When another friend approached me a few years later about joining the Board, I was happy to say yes.

There are many excellent mental health professionals in our community, but Associates goes one important step farther. Their counselors and psychologists are able to include matters of spiritual health and healing in their treatment of mental illness. For clients who want faith to be an integral part of the discussion, the staff at Associates is able to integrate a client's faith traditions and practices in the effort to regain a sense of wellness.

Associates’ staff is gifted, compassionate and passionate about what they do. They feel called to help others regardless of where a person might be on their faith journey or whether faith is even a part of that person's life. Clients are listened to, supported, helped and cared for but not preached at. Any one needing help is welcome at Associates in Christian Counseling.

Don't ever be afraid to ask for help. One of the surest signs of true strength is asking for help when you need it. Life can be very wonderful but also very stressful and from time to time, we all need help. God has given us an amazing resource in the caring and compassionate professionals at Associates in Christian Counseling and I pray you will let them help you find your way if help is what you need.
