A New Face— Karolyn Thompson

Karolyn Thompson, PhD. rejoined Associates in Christian Counseling this month after lecturing for several years at Winston-Salem State University in psychology and counseling. She comes with a broad range of training and a heart for ministry.

Dr. Thompson earned a BA in Sociology from WSSU, an MS in Human Resources/Agency Counseling from NC A&T State University, and a PhD in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University. After joining Associates in 2000, she accepted a position with her alma mater where has lectured and taught undergraduates for more than 5 years.

Today, Karolyn feels a different call. “I enjoy working with both married couples and teens. I realized there was an increased need and demand to serve both a more mature as well as an even younger population which has specific concerns,” she shared. “I believe the strength and care of a marriage is based on the relationship both spouses have with the Lord. I also believe that if teenagers can learn to understand the power of God’s grace and love, it will help them to build healthy relationships.”

Dr. Thompson looks forward to being able to assist individuals in realizing their God-given potential to change as she returns to the Associates’ family.
