Contact
For you who are movie buffs, you will remember Jodie Foster in
First Contact. As she anticipated that moment, it was with
a mixture of anxiety, fear, and excitement. Fortunately for those
contacting ACC, their first contact is with Jean Lambert, ACC’s
Office Manager.
“People who call have heard about ACC in one of many ways,”
Jean shared. “It may have been from a friend or family member,
or they may have been referred by their pastor or doctor.”
Others remember ACC from advertising or simply “google”
us into their lives from our website.
When someone calls for an appointment, there is a process to follow.
Insurance is checked to help a person understand their benefits.
The Director reviews each case and assigns it to an appropriate
clinician. If someone requests a particular therapist when they
call, we honor that if possible. “We want the very best match
from the very beginning,” stated Jean. “We don’t
want to simply give a person the next available appointment and
then have to switch them to a different clinician. That would not
be helpful at all.” Approximately 71% of those who call do
come in for an appointment. That first appointment is generally
within a week or so of that first phone contact, depending on the
availability of the appropriate therapist.
Jean considers her job an opportunity to minister to people who
are in pain. “Some folks are at the end of their rope when
they call. They feel the need for help right away fearing something
drastic is about to happen. I do my best to reassure them.”
She concluded by saying she believes ACC can help those in need
because of the unique approach offered by Christian counseling.
