| A Friend of ACC - Dr. Don Mann
Don Mann enjoys a long history with ACC. In the late '80s,
he became a member of the original steering committee which turned
the vision of local pastors into the reality of Associates in Christian
Counseling.
When asked about why he supported ACC, Don shared: "As a pastor,
I think there are two compelling reasons. It is, of course, a thoroughly
Christian resource. Yet it is also a reliable resource for pastors
to recommend to their members and have the confidence of professional
care. That's the best of both worlds— counseling staff
with professional training and a Christian worldview."
"One issue with which the original committee struggled was
the nature of confidentiality how to protect a client's privacy
while building confidence between pastors and counselors. ACC
has successfully accomplished both during the past 15 years which
should be even more a source of confidence to pastors who are considering
this as a resource."
Dr.Mann went on to say he believes Christians are to offer hope
in their communities simply by their presence. The original vision
for this type of counseling ministry came from pastors of different
denominations working together for the common good of our community.
Associates in Christian Counseling is part of that presence of hope
It speaks with a clear voice in terms of supporting values which
are important to all of us faith, families, relationships, and the
well-being of people.
When asked for his thoughts about this new partnership with Surry
Baptist Association, Dr.Mann simply pointed back to the beginning.
"Many churches worked together to launch this ministry. I believe
this step is a natural and logical extension of that original vision."
We at ACC are proud to have Dr. Don Mann as a friend from the very
beginning!
