Banquet Reflections, 2010

Four hundred people joined us for a time of food and fellowship on April 20th for our annual fundraising banquet. Associates in Christian Counseling has served the Triad since 1991 and this was our 11th banquet. Many of our guests have been faithful supporters over the years; for others, it was their first opportunity to learn about this ministry.

Before dinner, some of our sponsors and their guests had the opportunity to meet Ron Wellman, Director of Athletics at Wake Forest University, and his wife, Linda. Following dinner, Dr. Joe Verga, Associates’ Executive Director, shared a ministry update. He highlighted two new services—Christian life coaching and an Employee Care Program, designed to provide services to small to medium-sized businesses. Then it was time for our special guest, Ron Wellman.

Many in the audience were Wake Forest supporters or simply avid sports fans. This was a unique opportunity to hear from the man behind those coaches and players. Ron shared from his heart about influences and challenges in his own journey from athlete, to coach, to AD. He reminded us in very practical ways of the importance of Godly counsel. Ron’s transparency about his faith and journey with Christ was inspirational to everyone.

The evening was a financial success, even exceeding last year’s remarkable giving.
It is the generous support of our donors that encourages us and keeps the door open. We will continue to be here addressing the mental health and counseling needs of all who come.
