About Us Christian Counseling Services Resource Room FAQ's Annual Banquet

Banquet Reflections, 2009

Our annual fundraising banquet was held on April 14th with over 400 people attending. Many folks are faithful supporters who have joined us for many years. For others, it was their first opportunity to learn about Associates in Christian Counseling.

Dr. Joe Verga, Executive Director, shared an update on the ministry.  He was joined by Dr. Heath Greene, Clinical Supervisor, who provided a therapist’s glimpse into the counseling experience.  Then it was time for our special guest—Coach Jerry Moore.

Coach Moore delighted everyone with stories of football and championship games.  He spoke from his heart with encouragement to remember that “stuff” is not what is important in life. His final challenge was to do more than is asked of us by sharing the story from Genesis 24 where Abraham sends his servant to find a wife for Isaac.  The servant prays for a sign to recognize the right girl.  Rebekah comes with her jar.  Just as he prayed, she offers him a drink as well as water for his camels….but adds…until they are full!  The servant was traveling with 10 of his master’s camels.  One camel is able to drink 30 to 50 gallons of water at a time…drawn with a jar….by hand.

Rebekkah knew there was a need and did beyond what she was asked in order to meet it.  In closing Coach Moore stated, “Only two things really matter--the Word of God and the souls of men and women.”  The staff at Associates in Christian Counseling works to bring healing to those souls and “see to it that no on misses the grace of God” (Hebrews 12:15).

It seems that the message was taken to heart as the gifts and pledges have exceeded last year’s results.  What a testimony to the faithfulness and generosity of God and His people!
