in Christian Counseling Angel Award
As part of our annual banquet, we began a new tradition
this year of recognizing the efforts of someone in our community
who has been an advocate for mental health. We are calling this
the Angel Award. Our desire is to emphasize the true meaning of
the word angel, that is, one who delivers an important message.
The 2007 Angel Award bears this inscription, “…
presented to Mr. Robert Mills in recognition of his tireless efforts
as a messenger of hope and understanding to those who struggle with
emotional disorders, to their families, and to our community.”
Bob Mills has a long history of advocacy for, and
ministry to, those with emotional disorders. He has spoken publicly
about the problem of stigma and continually works to overcome it.
Bob has been a pioneer in the establishment of church-based support
groups for those with emotional disorders as well as for their family
members. His most recent project is to educate those in the faith
community about mental health issues. By developing a curriculum
and recruiting a teaching team of mental health professionals, Bob
is bringing information directly to church groups. This angel has
built bridges in every direction for the sake of understanding,
and has served and supported Associates in Christian Counseling
as well as the Forsyth County Mental Health Association and other
organizations.
We are privileged to have Bob Mills as a long-time
friend and supporter of Associates in Christian Counseling.
