Way back at the beginning, in 1991, we could not have imagined the fruit we have seen in the unfolding of God’s purpose for Associates. We would not have imagined that we would help 14,000 people. This issue includes a brief history and two very interesting articles about the integration of counseling and faith. A member of our Board of Directors, Rev. Yvonne Hines, also shares the call she feels to serve this ministry.
I have been mentored by many fine leaders, on our Board and from the community, who have helped me understand that even after 20 years we still need to tell our story so people will know what we offer. You can help with this effort if you LIKE us on Facebook as it shares our info with your virtual community.

The Vision—A Look Back
If you follow the news today, unity seems to be a rare commodity. More than 20 years ago, however, a group of pastors right here in Winston-Salem came together in unity over a need they had in common. God planted a vision in their minds and Associates in Christian Counseling opened its doors in October, 1991.
The View—From Both Sides
Associates’ therapist, John Shuler, has earned both a divinity degree and an MA in counseling. He has served as a youth pastor but now works as a Licensed Professional Counselor. John has seen the need for a partnership between ministers and therapists from both sides.

My prelude to Associates in Christian Counseling came as the organization was taking form. Through an association with one of the initial ministerial partners, I became aware of the emergence of Associates and the vision to incorporate mental health techniques with the spiritual aspect. Associates rapidly became an invaluable source for those seeking help within the parameters of their Christian faith. READ MORE
