August 2007

At the core of our work in the counseling field there is a most important truth—God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself. It is God’s work in the human heart that gives us the power to change, to really change, not just on the surface or for a few days, but from the inside out and forever. It is this truth that we focus on this month. All we hope to be and to do as counselors, and as people, depends on this. Be blessed by reflecting on this truth as you read on.

In His grace,

Dr. Joe Verga

New Heart, New Mind —
An Interview with Dr. Joe Verga

What do you mean by “New Heart”?

The first of our monthly segments on WBFJ-89.3 aired on August 1st.
If you missed it, be sure to tune in on the first Wednesday of each month.

Next month:
School Issues--
Wednesday, September 5th, 8:30-9AM on WBFJ-89.3

Identity and Gifts

In order to see ourselves, we must look in a mirror. In terms of our identity, our family of origin is our first mirror reflecting who we are. As we grow, our “mirrors” expand to include others who become significant in our lives. None of these mirrors offer a perfect reflection. Some will be confining. Others will be misleading. Christ is the only true mirror. In Scripture He is often described as light. His light reveals us to ourselves in new ways on our journey. Read More
