April 2007

A Very Special Evening

“It was a very special evening.” This is the comment we have heard again and again about our 2007 banquet. Start to finish, it was a time of friendship and blessing. Gary Chapman and Jennifer Thomas did a fine job of informing, entertaining, and challenging us to learn to build bridges through apologies.

Our first Angel Award was given to a very surprised honoree. We also announced a renewed educational initiative to further understanding of mental health issues and to help overcome stigma. Be sure to read the articles about the Angel Award and our Speakers Bureau and don’t miss the wonderful pictures of this special evening in our Photo Gallery.

Thanks to all who attended and made this such a memorable event.

Associates in Christian Counseling
Angel Award

As part of our annual banquet, we began a new tradition this year of recognizing the efforts of someone in our community who has been an advocate for mental health. We are calling this the Angel Award. Our desire is to emphasize the true meaning of the word angel, that is, one who delivers an important message.

The 2007 Angel Award bears this inscription, “… presented to Mr. Robert Mills in recognition of his tireless efforts as a messenger of hope and understanding to those who struggle with emotional disorders, to their families, and to our community.” Read More

Speakers Bureau

We are renewing our emphasis on the educational part of our mission. Toward that end, our Speakers Bureau now includes twelve speakers and over forty topics on every aspect of mental health, spiritual health, marriage, parenting, relationships, and more.

If you would like more information or to arrange a speaker for your church function, women’s or men’s group, or civic organization, please contact us at info@christiancounseling.org.

Technology Grant

We are very pleased to announce a $5000 grant from the Richard J. Reynolds III and Marie M. Reynolds Foundation. We want to express our deepest appreciation to the trustees at Robinson & Lawing, LLP.

At this time, an upgrade of our technology is essential to enable us to meet new standards in the health care field and alleviate much of our staff’s frustrations from working with very old, donated computers. This grant represents almost half of the projected budget.

We welcome further donations toward the completion of this project.
